Songs of the Marsh

This was a CPD project for primany school teachers in Southend Primary Schools. Tamsin and composer Peter Latenka were commissioned by Royal Opera House Education Department to work with primary school children and staff in Southend to develop their songwriting skills, both in lyrics and musical composition.

The project culminated in the writing of an original song cycle, ‘Songs of the Marsh’, inspired by Paul Gallico’s story ‘The Snow Goose’, which was performed on Two Tree Island, Leigh on Sea, in July 2011. In October 2011 the children came to the Royal Opera House Linbury Studio to record the complete score.
